Boy our weather sure is changing! From the high winds and cold days just a few days ago, we are now at calm, very warm (hot) days. Last Thursday (16th) it was 68 degrees, and yesterday (19th) it was 95. I just looked at the thermometer and it is already 94, and it is just Noon. Gonna be a very hot day! AND, Yes, I do have the AC on!! Tomorrow (if not today), there is a huge chance we will hit 100 degrees for the first time this year. It won't stay this way for long....they say it will be back down to the low 80s by the end of this weekend. They call this the "Pre-bake" time for 2009 (LOL).
Yesterday, Ken & I took the Wrangler down south for a whole day of geocaching and off roading. We didn't do anything terribly hard, but Ken did end up hiking up a couple large hills in search of ammo cans. No, I wasn't going up to those places, besides he goes a lot faster without some whining woman behind him complaining about his choice of route (grin).
We ended up on some pretty narrow trails (ATV paths) and did get some pin striping on the Wrangler.... oh well, that is why we have it. Even with all the hiking and jeeping, we found 26 caches and have made it to a grand total of 5,182 finds. No, we didn't see any Rattle Snakes, but we did come across a very huge Bull Snake. He was lounging in the dirt road and we almost ran over him, but he quickly came to his senses and got the heck away from us as fast as he could. All we saw after we realized what it was, was just a black undulating streak heading for the brush. We also saw our first baby Quails. They are soooo cute! They were running so fast, they looked like little bugs running across the ground. Mama and Papa Quail were making sure ALL their babies got away from us....they are very good parents!
Today, Ken is cleaning up the rock shop saws and getting ready to shut down the shop for the season. Not a lot of people left to work in the shop, so it is time to close it down. Ken will continue to work on his jewelry long after the shop is closed. He has most of his pendants done, so now it will be mostly beading.
We are also getting our shed (8' x 25') ready to keep the Wrangler in for the summer. With the shed being enclosed, we won't have to worry about any of the stuff walking away from the Jeep, nor will we have to worry about pack rats or any other kind of critter chewing all the wiring up (that does happen to a lot of vehicles left out for the summer). There have been instances where some of the park models had rodents chew their wires up and cause fires when the owners came back for the winter. Now a lot of people make sure their places have "rat/rodent" deterences around their places when they leave.
I am still having a hard time believing it is nearing May, and that we will soon be heading north. I still don't know where the last several months have gone. It doesn't seem like we accomplished very much, but we were always busy....go figure. Anyhow, it is nearing the time that we will be heading north and watching our grandsons (twins) graduate from high school and also watching them get their Boy Scout Eagle Badges. What an honor for them both to be receiving that badge.
ALSO, We were reminded the other day that our very close friends (you know who you are) are soon to be grand parents. We just want to remind you guys to let us know when little Maddie arrives....we also want pictues!! Love you guys!!!
