God's Artistry

We actually went out for a drive in the snow last night and it was gorgeous.  We ended up getting about 6 or 7 more inches of snow yesterday and thankfully, no more ice.  The ice did a lot of damage throughout our county and caused a lot of power outages, but we were ok and had no problems.  Click this link to see the local reporting  Statesman Journal .

While out, we saw huge trees split in half because an ice laden limb pulled it apart.  Also, we saw many smaller trees with lots of limbs beneath that had broken off.  Still with all the snow, things were quite peaceful looking.

While we were out, we took the opportunity to drive around and view Christmas lights.  There were some pretty displays, but nothing like what Ken usually puts up.  Of course with our being in Arizona in October and November, he didn't have any chance to put any up.  I did put a tree up, but that is our only Christmas display this year.

Out of all the decorating we saw, none was prettier than what God did.  This is one gorgeous scene we stumbled upon.  This tree is encrusted with ice and snow with a street light shining through.

Another great shot is this bush and the ice dripping from it.

There were more beautiful sights, but alas it was very dark and we couldn't get a good shot.

Right now (today) there is a lull between the storms, but another huge one is expected to hit later this evening or very early tomorrow morning.  Not a happy report for those who are stranded at the airport and in places where the roads are closed.  I-84, which goes east from Portland to Pendelton (Eastern Oregon)  has been closed for several days stranding truckers and many people traveling in their cars at a Flying J Truck Stop in Troutdale until ODOT opens the highway.....could be a long wait IF the new storm dumps more snow.   If the temperatures (27 right now) don't rise, that may just happen.
